DATE: September 19th (postponed from July due to Coronavirus)
NOTE: we have been closely monitoring the Coronavirus situation and made the decision to postpone the contest until September. If the Coronavirus restrictions are still in place to prevent the evening event from taking place, we shall switch to an online judging and presentation. Keep in touch and watch for announcements here and on our Facebook page.
UPDATE: Living Coasts has announced that they would not be reopening after the Coronavirus shutdown. Consequently, if the evening event is able to take place, the venue will now be at the Royal Torbay Yacht Club.
Torbay BSAC invites all underwater photographers to take part in our “Splash in” competition 2020!
A ‘Splash-In’ competition is one where all the photographs must be taken on a single specified day.
In our case, submission of the entries will be on that day, and the judging and presentation will be during an evening event where all the entries will be on display.
The competition categories are:
- Wide angle
- Compact cameras
- Beginners (Not won any competition previously)
The venue for handing in the images is to be the Torbay BSAC Tent, which will be located on Beacon Quay, Torquay Harbour. Torbay BSAC officials will be present to receive them.
There will be cash and sponsored prizes for first and second placed entries in each group, plus a trophy for each winner.
The prize for the Beginners Class this year is kindly sponsored by O'Three, and will include a very valuable discount voucher for a new O'Three suit (to be confirmed).
In addition to the above categories, there will be a Popular Vote winner (selected by attendees of the Evening Event). We are happy to announce that this year, Christopher Ward watches have agreed to sponsor the prize of a valuable diving watch for the lucky winner (to be confirmed). In the event that the Evening Event has to be cancelled and the competition judging conducted online, the Popular Vote will have to be cancelled this year.
The judging and presentation of prizes will be held at the Evening Event which includes dinner, and will be held at the Royal Torbay Yacht Club, Beacon Hill, Torquay. (Subject to Coronavirus regulations - numbers may be limited).
